Our 4th of July weekend was awesome. For starters, Derek had the 4th, 5th, and 6th off of work. Wow, a real weekend! What a concept. We started off going to the ward pancake breakfast, which I sacrificed running in the Firecracker 5K for. And it was worth it. It was great to be at a ward activity as a family, and to have a little flag ceremony to remember what the holiday was all about.

The kids lasted in the mandatory 4th of July clothes until about 10 am. Ethan reminded me that on this holiday that we celebrate freedom he shouldn't have to wear that shirt. But at least I got pictures.

We had fun at the pool (no pics) and then relaxed at home until it was time for a BBQ with high school friends, Mike and Chad, and their families. It was really neat to catch up with them, and so fun to see their kids.

On Saturday, after a lot of effort getting all the bikes and trailer ready, we took the boys on a 10 mile ride. Grandma Nori kept Janie, and we had a great time. The bike paths here have expanded so much, it's incredible. We made it to our destination, Dairy Queen, enjoyed blizzards, and then made the trip home with a little bit of rain mixed with sunshine. It was great weather. The boys had so much fun, and said things like, "This is a dream come true" and "We should do this every evening." It was definitely time well-spent.
To top it all off, we went to church as a family. Hooray! I enjoy Church 100% more when I'm not there alone with 4 kids.
We live for weekends!

I can't believe how quickly those boys are growing up...Ethan looks especially older in that picture with you!
The bike ride sounds like a lot of fun...we haven't been quite so daring to try that on the trails here, but maybe we should.
Beautiful family and I am glad to hear you were able to spend some precious time together.
Ethan's comment cracks me up. He is a smarty pants!
Weekends are the best. We don't have a crazy schedule like you do, but I still love the weekends and family time it brings.
We are getting excited to see you guys. I'll email you soon.
Sounds like you guys had a fun 4th. I love holidays! Ethan is very clever-no doubt about it! I wish we lived closer-Christian really looks up to him. Anyway, good to see you guys are doing well. I can't wait till I can run again!
yea for new blog postings! You are so cute Britt- and so is Janie, she is getting so big! So, we never finished talking this afternoon, bummer for out of range things:)- but I'll call you back later:). So, after the story of Jackson today, we got home and he asked for a picture of Reid and him, so I printed one off, and kept it in his pocket the rest of the day! As soon as your ready to put Reid on an airplane, were so ready to have him visit:) ha ha, actually were ready for all of youto come over:)
