Ethan, on the other hand, was not the least bit hesitant about getting back-to-school. He is thrilled to have "Mr. D" as his 3rd grade teacher ("I've heard he's tough but I'm up for the challenge"), he has big plans to convince his principal to let him write a comic strip for the school newsletter, and he's planning to get straight A's this year. Maybe just a few B's. Probably only one C. (In his words.)
His only disappointment is that his good buddy Alisa is not in his class again this year. (Pictured together at last year's field trip.) All day after school he was trying to come up with ways to be in the same class with her, although he doesn't want to leave Mr. D's class. So couldn't you just call Ms. Spearnak (the principal) and tell her to move Alisa to Mr. D's class? Why not? I swear, that boy does not relent! At least they still have lunch time recess together.

He cracks me up! What a brain he's got on him. He's always been a bit ahead of everyone. You never know, she may just end up in his class this year!
